A member asked:

Can your eyeball be swollen?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not really: The tissues around the eye, such as the conjunctiva, can become swollen with fluid, but the eyeball itself does not really change in size (the exception is in infants, where the eye can enlarge with high pressure). If the eye is protruding, as in thyroid disease, it may appear swollen or enlarged. The the eyelid on the other side is droopy, the normal eye might also appear relatively enlarged.
