It shouldn't: You must, however, have meticulous oral hygiene during your ortho care, moreso if you are pregnant. Changes in hormonal levels during pregnancy can cause gingival tissue to become inflamed and to bleed easily, so terrific oral hygiene is a must.

Gums may swell: Pregnancy itself will not interfere with orthodontic treatment. However, pretreatment x-rays will need to be postponed until after the first trimester. Also, gum tissues may swell more from time to time during orthodontic treatment due to hormonal imbalances during pregnancy.

Pregnancy Ortho Tx: This is a good question. Normally, pregnancy in itself should not intefere with your orthodontic treatment. However, some patients do develope pregnancy gingivitis, meaning the gums get inflamed and puffy. Continue to monitor your oral hygiene, have your orthodontist, dentist, and OBGYN communicate and monitor your progress.
