Albuterol: The dose of albuterol through a nebulizer has a wide range: 0.15 mg to 0.45 mg/kg body weight. A 5 year old has an average weight of 20 kg and so the dose ranges from: 3-9 mg. Most physician use the lower dose (for use at home) recommended by Dr Novak, but in the ICU setting we use up to 10 mg at this age.
