Needs colonoscopy: Even if he had no problems we are supposed to start routine colorectal cancer screening at age 50. The best care practice to do so remains colonoscopy although there are many other tests that are also done such as checking stool for blood, barium enema, sigmoidoscopy to name a few. If he has already had one it depends when. If it was more than 1-2 years ago it can be repeated if symptoms arise

Yes You must: take to his doctor first after preliminary examination and routine tests will refer him GI specialist for colonoscopy at 54 is indicated for screening . Get it done as soon as possible.
