Lymphopenia: Most lymphopenia is temporary and related to a recent viral, bacterial or fungal infection. It can also be due to oral corticosteroid, other medications, & severe stress. Also seen with autoimmune conditiions like Rheumatoid, lupus or sacrcoid. If counts remain low, a hematologist can determine which type of lymphocytes is reduced, T or B or both.
