Hypercalcemia: Hi. Non-parathyroid hypercalcemia (assuming normal kidney function) is usually due to granulomatous diseases or any number of malignancies; however, these conditions usually are NOT "mildly elevated", but tend to be more extreme, and usually with a frankly suppressed PTH. Serum calcium should be considered in context of albumin. Is your albumin on the high side? Is your ionized calcium high?

FHH: It sounds like you have familial hypocalcuric hypercalcemia. This can be confirmed by a 24 urine collection for calcium. There is also a genetic test for FHH.
