No: That's not to say vitamin B1(thiamine) isn't important! It plays a role with other B vitamins in carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism, energy production & nerve cell function. Because the B vitamins have a role in energy production, advocates have suggested they boost metabolism and aid in weight loss. There is no good evidence for this. They are found in many foods from meat to veggies.

Not particularly: Supplementation really won't lead to weight loss, even prescription pills only offer marginal benefit for weight loss(and often only temporary results). It really does take a significant effort at caloric restriction(this is the key for most) aided by increased physical activity.
