Key is quantities (not calories: measured in a calorimeter) below current body usage. Track & record body wt to 0.1 lb daily to verify status, progress. But none of this much to do with vitamin d, d2 or d3.

Eat less/exercise: Weight loss is diet and exercise. Eat less than you burn off. It's 3500 calories to the pound. It has absolutely nothing to do with vitamin d.
