Fats can constipate: Some experiments show that fats can slow down the gut. Known as the 'ileal brake', it's nature's way of helping the body absorb nutrients. Scarring is also a possibility, as Crohns can cause structures. Did you have an Xray or MRI examination of your small intestines (enterography) already?

Malabsorption: Inflammation in the small bowel can interfere with absorption of nutrients, including fat. The entire inflammatory process including ulceration & scarring plays a role. Usually the problem in Crohn's is diarrhea, often bloody, rather than constipation. Fortunately the malabsorption of nutrients is rarely severe enough for you to become malnourished. A nutritionist can help with diet suggestions.
