Can be painful: Some teeth may elicit a lot of pain from root canal n can Propogate to the ear. This happens on occasion if teeth are infected or just inflamed. Your doctor will monitor your situation n may change the pain medication or add an antibiotic if necessary

More info needed...: Recent root canal or old root canal? Infection? Meds, meaning antibiotics or pain killers? Mid treatment or completed treatment? Without this info, hard to advise you. Call the dentist who is treating you, and feel better soon.

Pain is never normal: After the root canal treatment, you may have some swelling and certainly some pain. If pain does not decrease after 1 week call your dentist immediately for post root canal evaluation and treatment if needed.
