Rare: Brain abscesses caused by amoebas are rare. Amoebic disease is more common in tropical areas with poor sanitation like Mexico, Africa, South America and India. Unless there is a chance for sewage, (human waste) in the creek, I wouldn't worry too much. See your doctor for any concerns.

Very unlikely: While creek water can carry a number of possible infectious agents including parasites and amoeba, in otherwise healthy individuals with normal immune systems, a serious infection from these would be unlikely. However, if your nostril continues to swell, becomes red, or you have worsening pain or any drainage/pus, see your doctor right away.
