is it safe 2 use at johns wort w/a "super energy up" herbal supplement from vitamin shoppe? and if so how many mg of st. john's wort is ok take daily?

St. John's Wort: There is no significant data to prove the effectiveness of this substance in any known medical conditions or to produce energy or changes in immunity. It will make the vitamin shop more profitable and your wallet thinner. You also have no real knowledge about what is actually contained in the supplements you are taking (and unless they are toxic it probably doesn't matter).

No way to know . . .: Unfortunately, in the States, dietary supplements such as herbal supplements etc are not regulated by 3rd party. So there's no guarantee of quality, much less safety & efficacy. With that said, St John's wort appears to be a safe herb (http://goo.gl/wNd0nD, http://goo.gl/VQsKpV & http://goo.gl/qeZLII) although I can't vouch for interactions & safety when used w/other supplements.
