See dentist: Probably either a cracked filling, decay under filling, or other cause of "pulpitis" or inflammation of the pulp. Not a "see dentist today" emergency. But you should see dentist within a few days to assess. If pain progresses to facial swelling and pain, then it is an emergency.

Not an emergency: Take OTC painkillers to control pain as needed. However, if the toothache is caused by an infection or tooth decay under the amalgam filling, it won't go away on its own. The best way to prevent a toothache is to handle dental problems early on when they are treatable. Don't miss your appointment next week.
