Alcohol: Can cause both short term and long term dysfunction. Alcohol is a depressant, and using it heavily can make it difficult for a man to achieve erections or reach an orgasm while under the influence. Overdoing booze is a common cause of erectile dysfunction. Long-term erectile dysfunction has been linked to chronic heavy use of alcohol.
