Morning flank pain: There are several muscles in that area that can tighten and hurt if they are out of shape. The psoas is in the groin area and goes up to the mid back, and the Obliques are across the mid to upper area. Yoga or similar stretches for these areas might help. Try it for a week. More serious problems would be unlikely to just hurt in the morning, but if nothing helps consider a check up.
