Depends: If you take your usual allergy pill and your symptoms don't respond as they usually do from it, then this may be a viral or bacterial infection. With a sore throat, not responding to allergy meds, then a throat culture is a good idea. See a doc. You can chose to avoid antibiotics while waiting for the culture results and only take them if is is positive, if your doctor agrees.

Perhaps: Your sore throat may be from a viral infection although profuse post-nasal drips especially when associated with a sinus infection may irritate the throat as well.
