Talk w your Doctor: Effexor (venlafaxine) has a half life (a measure of how long it takes your body to get rid of ½ of it), of 8-12 hrs. So it will be better you take it daily, if not the levels could drop too much and you could get "discontinuation syndrome", were you could get dizzy, pin and needles feelings, and a sense like if you had a flu. Talk w your Doctor to see if 75 mg/day is enough or you need higher doses.

Not the best idea..: If you want to taper off your antidepressant it is best to discuss it with your doctor first and explain to him or her what you want to do, and why. Tapering is better if you decrease the daily dose, rather than take it less often, such as the every other day you mention. Good luck!
