Effexor (venlafaxine): Effexor (venlafaxine) (and its newer version, Pristiq) have been around for quite awhile. While all drugs (even over the counter medicines like Tylenol) carry a possible risk for effects when taken long term ... Their benefit usually outweighs the alternative. I'd discuss your concerns with your doctor, long term goals, and perhaps when a 'drug holiday' might best be appropriate for you. Good luck!
