A member asked:

Does stress and depression actually cause memory recall problems in young people or is there a more common cause? like too much computer use?

Memory probs: Memory problems can often be caused by mood problems or stress. These affect people at all ages, but people who are young are especially affected by these. Other than these, medicine side effects are commonly a cause of memory problems in young people. Using the computer too much is not known to be a cause of memory problems.

Many causes: Of course, problems like drug use, depression & chronic sleep disturbance cause the most serious memory problems in young people. But there is some evidence that young people are not exercising their brains in the same way their grandparents did. Today young people rely on Smart Phones for their appointments, directions, names of new people they meet, etc. Develop your brain's own hard drive!
