Annual exam: Because your eye is more nearsighted than average, you may have a longer eyeball which can put you at higher lifetime risk for retinal detachment. Have an annual dilated fundus exam to detect any weak spots in the retina. Sometimes the weak spots are repaired prophylactically. If you have warning signs of a dark curtain coming over the vision, flashes of light, or new floaters, go see the eye MD.
