Answer depends: As a neurologist, I would refer my son to a psychiatrist. But in different communities, one or both kinds of doctors take care to look after folks with symptoms of ADHD.

ADHD symptoms: ADHD symptoms overlap with bipolar disorder and PTSD and agitated depression. See a psychiatrist with whom your son feels comfortable. Some psychological and neurophysiological testing may also be helpful.
