Pre diabetes: Hemoglobin A1C of 6.2 indicates increased blood sugar in the "pre diabetes" range. This is most commonly due to underlying insulin resistance - a condition where muscles and fat cells fail to respond appropriately to increasing blood insulin levels. Normal total, HDL and LDL cholesterol levels are often present. NMR LipoProfile testing could be helpful to identify lipoprotein-related CHD risk.
