A member asked:

Can you explain gfr and blood pressure relation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

GFR and BP: Glomerular filtration rate requires blood flow and filtration through the kidney. If the blood pressure is too low there isn't enough pressure and flow through the kidney to optimize filtration. The relationship is complicated by the state of the kidney vessels which if diseased can cause decreased flow with normal pressures in the body or even high pressures.
