Titers are often reported and followed over time to analyze the course of a possible illness. ANA is a screening test, and somewhat controversial due to frequent false positives.

Not much info added: Diffuse and speckled antinuclear antibodies are the least specific. These tests by themselves themselves can range from normal to many disorders. Only the doctor ordering can interpret.
