Depends on ur stomac: The gastric emptying scan / study: by eating a meal cooked w/ a tracer & following it; if it takes more than ~2 hrs, u have gastroparesis (more common in obese diabetics & requires meds to increase stomach motion). Make sure u follow instructions on (not) eating b4 the test so ur stomach is empty. The tracer is imaged & timed - it moves as fast as ur body allows. Obesity makes the images fuzzier.

Your wght not issue: Gastric emptying scan involves radiotracer usualy Tc99m sulfur colloid,either liquid or solid food. Patient not eating for 4-6 hours prior to study.Patient ingests radioactive meal and then placed supine on imaging table.Gamma camera can be positioned anteriory or posteriorly according to specifics of lab.Scan may last one to two hours. During study % stomach emptying and episodes of refux imaged.
