Lingual nerve injury: is sometimes caused by wisdom tooth surgery or a simple inferior alveolar nerve block. Lingual nerve damage is associated with loss of taste and sensation in the anterior region of the tongue and in majority cases is transitory. Ask your surgeon to consider high-dose corticosteroids to reduce immune inflammatory reaction. Take care.

A few things.: The bitter tasts may be lingering effects of a slowly healing socket. Rinse after eating until the socket is closed. If you have altered taste on one side of the tongue, the lingual nerve could be injured. See the surgeon to help sort things out.
