Could be: heavy biting forces could stimulate reactive bone formation resulting in benign exostosis formation. I recommend wearing a niteguard to spread the biting forces more evenly in your mouth.

Exostosis: Boney exostosis are relatively common and can be formed s a result of heavy occlusion, biting forces, clenching or grinding. You should have your bite evaluate for these. See your dentist about this.
