2-3 days: For most stages of Chronic periodontal disease, 2-3 days of meticulous oral hygiene with flossing should reduce the acute swelling associated with this gram negative anaerobic rod bacterial mediated infection. Complicated cases can have also other identifiable pathogens which may need to be remediated

Swollen gums: Healing of swollen gums will occur quickly after treatment only if you follow a god home care routine that includes brushing and flossing. Many dentists or periodontist will prescribe an antimicrobial rinse that helps healing. Healthy gums do not bleed. This is a lifelong commitment that you make to yourself.

Periodontal disease: Swollen gums is a sign that you already have a gum disease. The bacteria, along with mucus and other particles, constantly form a sticky, colorless toxic “plaque” on teeth causing the gums to become inflamed and to easily bleed. This is a serious problem, which should be checked by a dentist. The good news is that this condition is curable. Call your dentist today!
