Not water retension: Most likely due to Raynauds phenomenon. This is common with lupus and involves small blood vessels. Avoid cold and tobacco

CONSULT MD asap: Purplish toes suggest low blood flow to the foot.This is an emergency. Retaining water does not usually cause this symptom. Please consult rheumatologist for evaluation of poor blood flow to the foot
