Depends on cause: This depends upon what the source of your sore throat is. If it is being caused by a virus, then rest and regular fluids are most helpful at this stage. If it is a bacterial throat infection such as "strep throat" then antibiotics might be necessary. Your doctors office will be able to perform a swab test to tell whether it is bacterial or viral. Would suggest scheduling an appointment.
