Options: The classic answer is a topical cortisone - available over the counter, or prescribed at higher strengths. You could also use OTC medications such as benzocaine (Chiggerex, lanacane etc) . In a pinch you can use an ibuprofen or naprosyn (naproxen) gel cap- puncture a small hole and apply sparingly to the area of irritation. Be aware that skin may be more likely to sunburn while using topicals.

Benedryl : Works well but is sedating. Medrol (methylprednisolone) dose pack also may help. Call your doctor for best treatment
