Cannot say: which insect in your particular case. and, minor itching is helped by benadryl (diphenhydramine) (an antihistamine) that acts pretty rapidly and generally safe. Spreading redness, warmth,redness and of course purulence implies a more serious condition (infection) that requires antibiotics.
