Herpes simplex: It is unlikely that the herpetic outbreak was a cause of sinus infection, but rather that any form of infection may trigger recurrences of herpetic lesions. The treatment of your sinusitis might benefit from use of saline irrigation with a Neti-pot, decongestants, and a steroid nasal spray. If these do not work you need to see an ENT doctor as soon as feasible. Good luck.

Unrelated: HSV1 can be triggered by stress and inflammation. Another viral infection can trigger HSV1 flare and even a viral sinus infection. However HSV1 and sinusitis are not directly linked. If the diagnosis of sinusitis a bacterial one, then one needs to establish sinus drainage by decongesting the nose perhaps with Afrin (oxymetazoline) for 3-5 days. I cannot recommend a specific abx but Z-pak is not the answer.
