Clean your teeth: Baking soda with peroxide can clean your teeth giving them the appearance of being whiter, but the combo will not actually whiten your teeth. If it did, there would be no need for whitening products, right? Baking soda is abrasive so use it sparingly as to not wear away your teeth.

Don't be foolish: OTC's can cause harm in incorrect dose. If you want whiter teeth see your Dentist. Take advantage of his/her years of training and experience. Trying to do this yourself can damage teeth and gums.

Teeth whitening: Beware of any home remedies for whitening your teeth. They can cause more harm than good, even something as si pleas this can cause much irritating to your gums. Work with your dentist or at the least get some OTC Whitestrips. Be safe while whitening your teeth.

Bleaching: Yes the actual bleaching agent used is Carbamide Peroxide. It is a small % of hydrogen peroxide. The amount is the important thing so bleaching materials from the dentist are safer and have been researched.

Not recommended: You can use over the counter tooth paste or crest 3D whitening strips or pens. However, they are not so effective and/or stable. OTC bleach and whitening tooth paste could be used as a supplement only. A professional home whitening system with custom trays for the long term effect. You will be very happy with the results.
