Culture: We usually don't culture sinuses, but that would be how you could find out. If you have pus from your ear, your doctor could culture that. It may still be bacterial but the bug was resistant to amoxicillin. Fungal is much rarer, viral will resolve in 2-3 weeks on own. Another common cause of sinusitis is allergy and taking nasal steroid spray may help with that.
