ASA & MI prevention: Different groups have different thoughts re use of aspirin for prevention of first heart attack(MI)in people w/o cardiovascular disease(or equivalent).No doubt aspirin can prevent MI, but at increased risk of major bleeding events. USPSTF advises no aspirin for men younger than 45. ASA advised when MI risk for men 45-79 or stroke risk for women55-79 >GI bleed risk(3%-12% depending on age/gender.
