Depends: If the white blood cell count is performed while you have a significant skin/ soft tissue infection, the WBC's may be elevated, but I am not sure that would explain a WBC count in the range of 20,000. Best to have complete blood count (CBC) done when there is no obvious infection. If elevated, would see a hematologist for evaluation.
