Dr. James Lin answered

Here are some ...: Various amount of fat normally exists around the kidneys and in their sinus where kidney arteries, veins, and renal pelvis (the hollow part of kidneys) merge. But regardless of the amount, it's of no harm to kidneys and requires no intervention as long as not affecting urine drainage and kidney function. More detail? Ask Doc timely.

?Perinephric: Hi,Are you referring to perinephric stranding seen on a CT scan? .If that is it,it is commonly due to rupture of one of the calyces of the kidney due to obstruction of ureter on this side.It indicates inflammation around the kidney and the obstruction in the ureter needs to be corrected & antibiotics given to decrease the likelihood of perinephric abscess. Make sure yr.father is seeing urologist.
