A member asked:

My grandmother is on lisinopril 5mg and her blood pressure drops really low at nighttime and it wakes her up at night and she starts talking non-sense?

Needs to tell doctor: It is important that someone goes with her to see her doctor and very soon. If her blood pressure is dropping too low at night then the medication may need to be stopped. If she is confused when this happens she may not be able to give the doctor an accurate history of what is happening. Please call the office and let them know what is happening, they may stop the medicine even before they see her

May be other reasons: for her "Non sense" talking. Lisinopril 5 mg is a low dose. If her BP become too low and she gets lightheaded, she is at higher risk for fall. Low BP per se does not wake any body up. But if she is disoriented and speaking unintelligible; there may be some thing else going on like UTI, or electrolyte imbalance,or does she have cognitive decline? Keep BP log and bring to MD's office.
