Depends: It depends on the amount of exertion or intensity it takes to climb the hill. You should be challenging yourself with your exercise. Good luck.

Depends on goals.: If you want to do body sculpting, yes, you still need to specifically train your gluteals, thigh, and leg muscles for strength. If you are exercising for health and fitness, then it is optional--your choice.
