Difference between cushing disease and syndrome ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Disease vs. syndrome: Hi. Cushing's disease is specifically hypercortisolism due to an ACTH-secreting pituitary adenoma. Cushing's syndrome is simply the clinical manifestations of hypercortisolism, and (once you know it's not pituitary) can be due to adrenal tumors (benign or malignant), exogenous glucocorticoid therapy, or a paraneoplastic syndrome (cancers that secrete ACTH or CRH).
