See details: Diet has little effect on serum uric acid so fish and chicken are fine. If you are still having breakthrough attacks on allopurinol, have your doctor add Colchicine 0.6 mg daily and this will stop the attacks.

Gout: You can, however, if you are in an acute gout attack, I would decrease intake of purine rich foods. Avoid beans, tomatoes, alcohol, pork, beef, lamb, shellfish, soft drinks.. Remember, the goal is to keep uric acid levels under 6mg/dl. Drink plenty of water and I recommend natural cherry juice as an additional treatment.

Gout Diet: Patients being treated with Allopurinol want a serum uric acid level of 6 or less. Although your serum acid level of 6 mg per dl is good a proper diet is still recommened. A gout diet reduces your intake of foods that are high in purines, such as meats and fish, which helps control your body's production of uric acid. You should discuss this diet with your primary care physician before eating meat

Diet and gout: You should limit meats, poultry, shellfish, and heavy fish to less than 4 oz per day. Get protein from egg whites, soy, tofu, quinoa. Diet features that elevate uric acid include meats, poultry, shell fish, organ meats, alcohol, animal fats, and high fructose corn syrup containing foods and drinks. Maximize fruits and veggies and whole grains. Drink 2-3 liters per day.
