Cavernomas: Another name is cavernous hemangiomas. They are abnormal vascular lesions with small compartments containing blood products. They do not have large feeding arteries or draining veins like AVM's, but may have venous angiomas. If symptomatic, treatment is surgical. http://www.webmd.com/brain/cavernous-malformation

Birth defect likely: Most often cavernous hemangioma or cavernomas are a tangle of blood vessels. They have a tendency to bleed. That is why the report said chronic. The bleeding can become a problem. I wonder if you are under the care of a specialist in that area. If not you might think about it
