A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mono: Atypical lymphocytes are usually associated with infectious mononucleosis. It is a viral infection that causes sore throat, fever, and flu-like symptoms. It can cause your spleen to be enlarged (splenomegaly) so if you were diagnosed with mono stay away from any contact sport or activity where you can get hit in the abdomen and risk splenic rupture.
