Retained products: It sounds as if you had an abortion and then had to go back for a dilatation and curettage because you had retained products of conception (not all pregnancy tissue came out after your initial abortion). This can happen and most of the time after the D&C everything is good and you return to having regular cycles. Occasionally, women have to go back a second time for a D&C.
