Chronic irritation: Untreated acid reflux can cause irritation and inflammation of the vocal cords, leading to hoarseness, change in voice quality, post nasal drip sensation, frequent throat clearing and respiratory symptoms.

Yes.: Acid reflux, a condition where acidic juices created in the stomach percolate upward into the esophagus and sometimes even the throat and mouth, exposes your vocal cords to acid injury. This can result in hoarseness and a very uncomfortable sore throat. It's therefore necessary to treat the reflux in order for this to heal. Hope that helps. Thanks.
