Prostate: Ultrasound of the prostate can detect areas that are hypoechoic and this may suggest potential areas of cancer. If there are any hard areas on exam, a biopsy of the prostate along with a PSA is warranted

Biopsy: A hard prostate should be biopsied regardless what the ultrasound says. PSA blood test should be done.You are 55.Good luck.
