Good question: At this time MRI is very sensitive to any type of damage or changes in tissue but we still have to go by pattern recognition to diagnose anything. This is the reason the read says "non specific". One lesion doesn't mean anything unless it fits a pattern. We see this all the time and it is considered a normal variant meaning it is not normal but found in enough people to be considered normal.
