Impossible to answer: Sprain of what? Your ankle? If the pain is severe, the ankle needs to be evaluated and x rayed. For severe sprains, immobilization will speed recovery.

Pain control: Where exactly is the pain? Apply ice for about 15 minutes 2-3 times/day, may use anti-inflammatory medicne like advil/ibuprofen 400-600 mg 3 times/day. Rest the area of pain. If pain persist have it x rayed. Soft tissue injuries might take upto 6 wks to heal .
