Ankle Sprains: Recovery from an ankle sprain requires RICE therapy (Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation). Generally, complete avoidance of sports is recommended until pain free, and gradual return to regular activities as tolerated after that. High ankle sprains take longer to recover (6 weeks or longer), and may require additional interventions such as the use of a walking boot or physical therapy.
